Falling Investments

Like most other investors in the equity market, I was really concerned about the performance of my unit investment trust funds.

The above sheet is as of July 1, 2008.

As you can see, I am incurring losses amounting to Php 23,533.99 with all my Unit Investment Trust Funds.

And with an income of Php 1,227.25 net of the estimated exit fees in my mutual fund.

This is due to the falling stock market because all of my placements are in equities.

It's like everyday, the index is shedding points.
It's like everyday, there is always news of high inflation, rising costs of oil and that of US subprime mortgage crisis. Analysts and economists quote this as stagflation.

When will it reach the bottom?

I'm still not good in this type of investment.. But hopefully, I'll learn it soon.. I'm interested in stocks and forex trading but still don't have sufficient knowledge..

Looking forward to your posts..

how long have you been investing in UT? Look at the sectors the funds expose to..if they are ok in biz nature, just hold it, or average down the cost. UT is meant for long term investment anyway.

i think it's actually a good time to invest right now that the stocks are low. i do not know for certain when the prices will rise again, but they'll eventually do.

I also invest in mutual funds. I got mine back in 2004 when market was still on the verge of recovering. Looking at yours, it looks like you started sometime last year (latest 2006) when the market was hot.

If there is one thing I learned, it's to buy low, sell high. Now that the market is again going down, it is time to buy an hold. It's just matter of when the market will bottom out to maximise earnings.

I do think that this is a good time to study it now. You can view my post under the category UITFs and Mutual Funds to undertand it.
